Travelling With Your Prescription
What the rules say
If you are visiting Cyprus and wish to bring your medicinal cannabis with you, you must first obtain a permit from the Minister of Health. This permit will only authorise you to bring a quantity sufficient to cover the duration of your stay — it does not permit importing a larger supply.
Applications must be submitted by email or fax with all required supporting documents. Because the permit is approved by the Minister of Health directly, processing can take up to 2 weeks depending on ministerial availability. Apply as early as possible — do not leave this until the week before travel.
Required Documents
What you must submit with your application

- A copy of your UK prescription
- A photograph of the product you are taking, clearly showing its name, composition, and pack size

How to travel with your medication
Carry your medicine in your hand luggage wherever possible, with all documentation immediately accessible. Keep your permit approval, prescription copy, doctor's report, and product photograph together in a single travel wallet alongside your passport.
- Keep all medication in hand luggage — do not check it into the hold if avoidable
- Carry the original pharmacy packaging with dispensing label — do not decant into another container
- Keep your Minister of Health permit immediately accessible — at customs and if stopped by police
- Liquid medications (oils, tinctures) must comply with the airline 100ml liquid rule
- Vaporisers must be in hand luggage; batteries may have airline-specific restrictions
- Declare your medication proactively at customs — do not wait to be asked
- Keep digital copies of all documents on your phone as a backup
