Information
According to the Slovenian Medicinal Products Act individuals may import in their personal luggage for their personal use medicinal products in a quantity that corresponds to the relevant therapeutic use, i.e.:
– for acute conditions for a maximum of up to three weeks;
– for chronic diseases or conditions that require long-term medication treatment, for a maximum of up to three months or exceptionally for a period of 12 months, provided that the individual submits to the relevant customs authority proof of a permit to stay for the appointed period in the country of destination.
In the case of the import of medicinal products for personal use the customs authority may require the individual proof/confirmation of the medical prescription for these medicinal products.
So, a traveler coming to Slovenia should have a proof/confirmation of his medical doctor that he is on the (long-term) therapy with specified medicines.
The same is valid if the medication contains controlled (narcotic / psychotropic) substances, e.g. medical Cannabis, where it should be taken into account that they are usually prescribed for a period of one month. If a stay in Slovenia is longer than one month a patient should get further quantities prescribed by a Slovenian doctor, if needed.
