Medical Cannabis Awareness Week: Northern Ireland Roadshow – Derry
Date: Friday, 1st November 2025
Time: 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Locations: Derry City Centre & Burn Pit Lounge
Event Description:
Join PatientsCann UK in Derry/Londonderry as we launch Medical Cannabis Awareness Week 2025 with an important day of public education, community connection, and open dialogue around medical cannabis in the UK.
Since the legalisation of medical cannabis in 2018, thousands of patients have benefited from this medicine — yet many still face barriers to access, misunderstanding, and stigma. This event aims to bring clarity, visibility, and compassion to the conversation, right in the heart of the community.
From 11 AM to 1 PM, PatientsCann UK volunteers will be on the streets of Derry City Centre alongside the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI), raising awareness about the legal availability of prescribed cannabis medicines and sharing educational materials with the public.
From 1 PM to 4 PM, the campaign continues at the Burn Pit Lounge, where patients, carers, and supporters are invited to join a relaxed community social. Extra seating will be available just three minutes away at Yum Cakes on Ferryquay Street, ensuring accessibility for all attendees.
We’re honoured to welcome special guests, including the Mayor (Sinn Féin) and Deputy Mayor of Derry (DUP), as well as representatives from SDLP, Sinn Féin, River Radio, and the Derry Journal, reflecting the growing recognition of the importance of medical cannabis awareness in Northern Ireland.
This event is part of the PatientsCann UK Medical Cannabis Awareness Week Roadshow, travelling across the UK to mark seven years since medical cannabis became legal — taking the message directly to the people and empowering communities through education and patient voices.
Event Schedule:
🕚 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM: Public awareness in Derry City Centre with PSNI
📍 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM: Patient Social at Burn Pit Lounge (additional seating at Yum Cakes)
Together, we’re breaking barriers to unlock the potential of medical cannabis.
