Medical cannabis, which has been prescribed to a patient by a doctor, is treated in the same way as other narcotic/psychotropic substances prescribed by a doctor. -Travellers may carry it for personal use. -The allowed amount is for up to 30 days of treatment. -travelling from a non-Schengen country (UK), the need for a permit depends on the amount of medicines carried:
1. If you are bringing along up to 1 package of medicine that contains narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances and the package size of this medicine does not exceed 30 units (tablets or capsules) or 25 ml in liquids, you do not need a permit from the State Agency of Medicines. In this case you will only need to bring along a signed note from your doctor on the need of these medicines or a copy of the prescription.
2. If you are bringing along more than 1 package of medicines that contains narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances or the size of the package exceeds 30 units (tablets or capsules) or 25 ml of liquids, you will need a permit from the State Agency of Medicines.
3-If the traveler comes from a Schengen country, it must have a Schengen certificate issued in its country of permanent residence.
Necessary Details
-Fill out the application form (download the form or print it out)
-Sign the filled application form digitally or print it into paper form and sign by hand
-Send the filled application form to the State Agency of Medicines reisimine@ravimiamet.ee
-Attach a doctor’s note or copy of prescription to your application.
-The applications for the permits must be sent to the State Agency of Medicines at least 5 working days before the beginning of the travel.
-Medicines have to be on its original package.
-The package of the medicine you will be bringing along to your travels must contain the manufacturer’s information about the name and the active substance of the medicine.
